Characteristics of the protein coding sequence
Modified Head involution defective (HID) protein
EN
The Lucilia sericata head involution defective Ala2 encodes a modified version of the Head Involution Defective (HID) protein, a pro-apoptotic factor that promotes programmed cell death (apoptosis). HID proteins promote cell death by antagonizing endogenous inhibitors of apoptosis, thereby facilitating activation of apoptotic pathways. The Ala2 variant was engineered by replacing two conserved mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) phosphorylation sites with alanine residues. These substitutions were introduced to prevent phosphorylation-mediated inhibition of HID activity and enhance its effectiveness as a pro-apoptotic lethal effector.
