Amendment of the Joint Ministerial Decision no. 38639/2017/21.9.2005 on the designation of measures and conditions for the deliberate release of genetically modified organisms into the environment in compliance with the provisions of Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 March 2001 "on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms and repealing Council Directive 90/220/EEC" in order to comply with EU Directive 2015/412 of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2001/18/EC as regards the possibility for the Member States to restrict or prohibit the cultivation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in their territory

The objective of the Joint Ministerial Decision is the implementation of articles 8, 10, 12, 15 and 20 of national law 1650/1986 'On the protection of the environment' and the compliance with the provisions of Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 March 2001 on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms and repealing Council Directive 90/220/EEC for the protection of human health and the environment by taking all necessary measures in case of:
a) deliberate release of GMOs into the environment for purposes other than the market
b) GMOs' placing on the market either as products or part of products
a) deliberate release of GMOs into the environment for purposes other than the market
b) GMOs' placing on the market either as products or part of products
