This Ordinance prescribes the monitoring conditions, the goal to be achieved and the general principles to be followed for the purpose of creating a monitoring plan, labeling and packaging of genetically modified organisms and products that consist of or contain GMOs or a combination of GMOs.

This Ordinance implements into the Croatian legislation Directive 2001/18/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of March 12, 2001 on the deliberate release into the environment of genetically modified organisms and on the repeal of Council Directive 90/220/EEC (OJ L 106, 17/04/2001) - Annex VII.

This Ordinance has been adopted pursuant to the Article 49, para. 6 of the Act on Genetically Modified Organisms (Official Gazette, No. 126/19) and Article 38, para. 3 of the Law on the State Administration System (Official Gazette, No. 66/19).
