Insect resistant cotton (MLS 9124)
EN
MLS 9124
No
Event MLS9124 was developed by transforming cotton plants with a synthetic gene, cry1C, for the introduction of resistance to bollworm.

Bt cotton was generated by Agrobacterium mediated transformation of hypocotyl explants. Transformed events were detected by selection on kanamycin.
EN
The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

EN
  • Agrobacterium-mediated DNA transfer
Some of these genetic elements may be present as fragments or truncated forms. Please see notes below, where applicable.
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-103217-2 Synthetic cry1C gene
Protein coding sequence | Resistance to diseases and pests (Insects, Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths), Fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda))
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-15001-5 Neomycin Phosphotransferase II | Escherichia coli (ECOLX)
Protein coding sequence | Resistance to antibiotics (Kanamycin)
The synthetic Cry1c gene encodes for a truncated insecticidal protein.

Detection method(s)
Putative transformants were analysed by PCR (Internal Methods), Southern and ELISA (Envirologix) analysis, and were also assayed for level of insect resistance.
