Brassica napus modified for altered fatty acid metabolism
EN
Multiple transformation events
No
In the genetically modified oilseed rape plants the plsC gene from Escherichia coli, which encodes a lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase that is specifically expressed in the seeds. The enzyme catalyses the linkage of medium-chain fatty acids to the sn-2 position of lysophosphatidic acid thereby leading to an altered fatty acid profile in the seeds of the transformed plants.
EN
The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.
