IZSLT runs several National Reference Centres (NRCs) and Laboratories (NRLs). Their duties, under Article 2 of Decree 4 Oct. 1999, are aimed at, inter alia:
- Confirm, when needed, the diagnosis resulted at other laboratories; - Keep and provide when needed reference materials;
- Develop the standardization of analytical methods,
- perform appropriate proficiency tests among the other Institutes,
- Use and disseminate the official analysis methods,
- Prepare contingency, monitoring and surveillance plans
- Co-operate with other Community and international reference centres.
- provide assistance and information to Ministry of Health
NRCs and NRLs currently active at IZSLT:
■NATIONAL REFERENCE CENTRE FOR FORENSIC VETERINARY MEDICINE
■NATIONAL REFERENCE CENTRE ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE
■NATIONAL REFERENCE CENTRE FOR EQUINE INFECTIOUS ANEMIA
■NATIONAL REFERENCE CENTRE FOR GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS
■NATIONAL REFERENCE CENTRE FOR THE DISEASE OF HORSES
■NATIONAL CENTER OF REFERENCE FOR THE QUALITY OF MILK AND PRODUCTS OF SHEEP AND GOATS
