Non-governmental organization (NGO)
The Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) is an international network of 280 youth organizations, representing a total of 664,000 members from 140 countries, whose common goal is to prevent the loss of Biodiversity. We are the coordination platform for youth participation in the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and officially recognized by the CBD Secretariat. GYBN aims to represent the voice of global youth in the negotiations under the CBD, raise awareness among young people of the values of biodiversity and connects individuals and youth organizations in order to build a global coalition of young people who will work together to halt the loss of biodiversity. For more information about GYBN please visit http://gybn.org/ To strengthen national and regional youth movements, GYBN has facilitated the launch of several national and regional chapters, such as the Mexican Youth Biodiversity Network. A national or regional chapter is a group of individuals or youth organizations who wish to work more closely together in order to create a positive impact on the national or subnational level. The GYBN chapter will serve as coordination platforms for youth to actively engage in biodiversity issues and the CBD and spreads GYBN’s vision and mission on the ground.
