Coriander is a tropical crop; it requires a cool and comparatively dry frost-free climate, particularly at flowering and seed formation stages, especially for good-quality and high seed yields. Coriander can grow in a wide range of soils, provided that they are rich in organic matter and well-drained. Saline, alkaline and sandy soils are not suitable for growth.
