Maize event MIR604 has been genetically modified to express the mCry3A protein (modified version of Cry3A of Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. terebrionis) which provide protection from larval corn rootworm (CRW) damage. According to the existing scientific data and information available during the safety assessment, it is concluded that the maize event MIR604 is substantially equivalent to its untransformed counterpart, except for the added insect resistance trait, hence, is deemed as safe as the conventionally bred counterpart.
