Author summary: The baseline study on rainbow trout in Peru, published in 2021, brings together studies conducted between 2015 and 2019 in twelve priority regions. It analyzes the distribution of Oncorhynchus mykiss, its reproductive biology, breeding practices, and associated socioeconomic and ecological aspects. The systematization allows for an assessment of the current status of this naturalized species in the country and provides technical input for preventing risks associated with the introduction of genetically modified fish, in accordance with the Cartagena Protocol.
