Maize event MON88017 has been genetically modified to express Bt-toxin (Cry3Bb1 protein) which provide protection to certain coleopteran pests and CP4 EPSPS protein which confers tolerance to glyphosate herbicide.According to the existing scientific data and information available during the safety assessment, it is concluded that the maize event MON88017 is substantially equivalent to its conventional counterpart in terms of morphology, nutrition, toxicity and allergenicity.
