Closing of the discussion [#5385]
Dear All,

Thank you for your participation and feedback. This discussion is now closed. Wadzi will post a moderator’s summary in a few days.

The next round of discussion will start on the 24th June, as per the updated calendar of activities (http://bch.cbd.int/onlineconferences/calendar_ra.shtml) and will further discuss the development of a package that aligns the Guidance with the training manual.

Best regards,
The Secretariat

POSTED ON BEHALF OF WADZI MANDIVENYI
-------------------------------------------------------

Dear Members of the Open Ended Online Forum,

I would like to thank all the participants who have contributed their views to the discussion on the alignment of terminology of the Guidance and Manual. In spite of there being a limited number of interventions, the views shared were varied and thorough and captured some essential points that need to be focused on in the process of aligning the two documents.

Some colleagues agreed that the level of agreement between the Guidance and the Manual was satisfactory given the different levels of detail in each document. However it was noted that further refinement of the conceptual agreement between the two documents is still needed.

It was also noted that priority should be given to the explanation of terms that focus on the risk assessment context as opposed to a general explanation of the term, especially when the term is a standard term that is commonly used in practice and should be identical in both documents. In cases where there are several terms that are related an effort should be made to ensure the explanations are streamlined. Furthermore the sources from which the explanation of each term was obtained can be assessed to ensure that the most thorough and relevant source was utilised. Several participants have made concrete comments on the text and explanatory notes.

Once again I would like to thank all the participants for their input and I look forward to working with you in future discussions with more active participation from the members of the Open Ended Online Forum.

Best regards,
Wadzi
