DAS-Ø15Ø7-1 × MON-ØØ6Ø3-6 × DAS-4Ø278-9
The stacked maize line DAS-Ø15Ø7-1 x MON-ØØ6Ø3-6 x DAS-4Ø278-9 was obtained through the traditional cross breading of each of the parental organisms to produce a maize that expresses each of aryloxyalkanoate dioxygenase, EPSPS, PAT and Cry1F genes. The expression of these genes are expected to confer resistance to Lepidoptera and Coleoptera, and tolerant to 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and aryloxyphenoxypropionate (AOPP) acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase) inhibitors, glufosinate herbicide and glyphosate herbicide.

The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

DNA insert from TC1507 vector PHI8999A
The TC1507 line contained the Cry1F and PAT coding sequences and regulatory elements. The Cry1F gene produces insecticidal crystal protein that confers resistance against lepidopteran pests and the PAT gene produces Phosphinothricin N-acetyltransferase which confers tolerance to the glufosinate herbicide.

DNA insert from NK603 vector PV-ZMGT32
Parental organism NK603 contributed a form of the plant enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) that allows the plant to survive the otherwise lethal application of glyphosate. The glyphosate-tolerant EPSPS gene was isolated from the CP4 strain of the common soil bacterium Agrobacterium tumefaciens.

DNA insert from DAS40278 vector pDAS1740
DAS-40278-9 corn was modified with the insertion of a plant optimised coding sequence for aryloxyalkanoate dioxygenase to confer tolerance to the herbicides 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and aryloxyphenoxypropionate (AOPP) acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase (ACCase) inhibitors.
