The zebrafish (Danio rerio) was modified for green fluorescent coloration through the expression of Aequorea victori green fluorescent protein. The fluorescent zebrafish has a few different names depending on the variety of zebrafish used in the transformation and subsequent breeding; examples include "Green Fluorescent Fairy", "Platinum Green Leopard Fluorescent Fairy", "Yellow Fluorescent Fairy" and "Green Ribbon Fluorescent Fairy".
EN
The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

Some of these genetic elements may be present as fragments or truncated forms. Please see notes below, where applicable.
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-259257-1 β actin promoter | Danio rerio (Zebra fish, leopard danio, zebra danio)
    Promoter
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-45846-4 Green Fluorescent Protein gene | Aequorea victoria (Crystal Jellyfish, Water Jellyfish, AEQVI)
Protein coding sequence | Selectable marker genes and reporter genes
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-114748-3 SV40 poly-adenylation signal | Macaca mulatta polyomavirus 1 (SV40, Simian vacuolating virus 40, simian virus 40, Rhesus macaque polyomavirus)
    Terminator
  • BCH-GENE-SCBD-260317-1 Inverted terminal repeats | Adeno-associated dependoparvovirus A (Adeno-associated virus 2)
    Inverted terminal repeats
The modified zebrafish is expresses Aequorea victoria green fluorescent protein (gfp). The coding sequence is under control of the zebrafish beta-actin promoter and Macaca mulatta polyomavirus 1 (SV40) terminator. The promoter is expected to promote high levels of transcription in all body tissues. The Adeno-associated virus inverted terminal repeats found at either side of the cassette were used for integrating the transgene sequences into the zebrafish genome.

Note:
- The donor species of Adeno-associated virus inverted terminal repeats was not specified in the patent document. Thus, Adeno-associated virus 2 was chosen as a placeholder due to its use in recombinant vectors until further information becomes available.
- There is a discrepancy between the patent documents and the website regarding the promoter (where it is the alpha or beta actin promoter). Thus, the beta-actin promoter was selected to be consistent with the commercial website.
