The DP-356Ø43-5 modified soybean was produced by the insertion of modified glyphosate acetyltransferase (GAT4601) and acetolactate synthase (GM-HRA) genes.

Expression of the GAT4601 protein confers tolerance to glyphosate, and expression of the GM-HRA protein confers tolerance to acetolactate synthase-inhibiting herbicides such as sulfonylurea and imidazolinone herbicides.

DP356043 contains the GAT4601 version of the glyphosate-N-acteyltransferase gene which results in tolerance to the glyphosate herbicide.

Southern blot analysis indicated that a single complete copy of the transformation cassette was integrated into the host genome with no  detectable integration of any segments of the vector backbone.
