Soy modified for glyphosate and sulfonylurea herbicide tolerance

DP-356Ø43-5 × MON-Ø4Ø32-6
The stacked soy line DP-356Ø43-5 x MON-Ø4Ø32-6 was obtained through the traditional cross breading of each of the parental organisms to produce soy that expresses each of EPSPS, modified glyphosate acetyltransferase (GAT4601) and acetolactate synthase genes. The expression of these genes are expected to confer tolerance to sulfonylurea herbicides and glyphosate.

The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

Some of these genetic elements may be present as fragments or truncated forms. Please see notes below, where applicable.
DNA insert from DP-356Ø43-5 vector PV-GMGT04
DP-356Ø43-5 contributes a glyphosate tolerant EPSPS gene which results in a plant that is not affected by applications of glyphosate.

DNA insert from MON-Ø4Ø32-6 vector PHP20163
MON-Ø4Ø32-6 contains the GAT4601 coding sequence which confers tolerance to glyphosate by detoxifying it through the transfer of an acetyl group from acetyl CoA to the secondary amine group of glyphosate. It also contains the coding sequence for a herbicide tolerant version of the acetohydroxy acid synthase protein that is not affected by sulfonylurea herbicides.
