Multiple disease-resistant rice expressing the WRKY45 transcription factor which, is normally upregulated during Benzothiadiazole (BTH)-induced disease resistance. This sets off a signalling cascade that protects plants from diseases by activating the salicylic acid (SA) signaling pathway.

The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

The genetic element of WRKY45 consists of the gene's cDNA. The ALS gene contains 2 point mutations (W548L/S627I) which results in a herbicide resistant form of the enzyme, designated as mALS.
