Red Clover modified for cold tolerance and fungal resistance
Red clover, Trifolium pratense, modified with the insertion of the desA target gene, that encodes Δ12-desaturase of cyanobacteria.

Expression of Acyl-lipid ∆12-desaturase in the transgenic plants increases their tolerance to prolonged exposure to low temperatures and resistance to fungal pathogens and wounding.
The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.
