The root-specific inorganic phosphate transporter 2 of Solanum tuberosum is constitutively expressed in the transgenic potato plants. Since the endogenous phosphate transporter is only induced by a lack of phosphate, its additional constitutive expression leads to an improved phosphate uptake. As a result of the genetic modification the phosphate contents in the leaves, roots and tubers is influenced.
EN
The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.
