Mr. Kervella is the Chief of the
Dangerous Goods and Special Cargoes Section of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe's (UNECE) Transport Division. His section provides secretariat services to the UNECE Working Party on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Working Party on the Transport of Perishable Foodstuffs. The Dangerous Goods and Special Cargoes Section also provides administrative services related to international legal instruments under the responsibility of the two Working Parties, namely:
- the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR);
- the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Inland Waterways (ADN); and
- the Agreement on the International Carriage of Perishable Foodstuffs and on the Special Equipment to be used for such Carriage (ATP).
The Dangerous Goods and Special Cargoes Section also provides secretariat services to the UN Economic and Social Council's Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) and is responsible for the publications reflecting the work of this body (UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Model Regulations and Manual of Tests and Criteria; GHS).
Mr Kervella is a graduate of the French "Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Biologie Appliquée à la Nutrition et à l'Alimentation (ENSBANA)". He joined the UNECE Transport Division in 1982 before moving to the International Maritime Organization (Maritime Safety Division, Cargoes Section) in 1987 and returning to the UNECE in 1992.
