MON-ØØ863-5 × MON-ØØ6Ø3-6
A stacked insect-resistant and glyphosate-tolerant corn derived from conventional cross-breeding of MON-ØØ863-5 and MON-ØØ6Ø3-6.  Tolerance to the herbicide glyphosate produced through incorporation of the epsps gene encoding 5-enolpyruvylshikimaete-3-phosphate synthase (epsps), that confers tolerance to the herbicide glyphosate and resistance to coleopteran insects from the cry3Bb1 gene from Bacillus thuringiensis. The neomycin phosphotransferase II (npt II) gene confers resistance to the antibiotic kanamycin.

The term “Recipient organism” refers to an organism (either already modified or non-modified) that was subjected to genetic modification, whereas “Parental organisms” refers to those that were involved in cross breeding or cell fusion.

Some of these genetic elements may be present as fragments or truncated forms. Please see notes below, where applicable.
DNA insert from MON863:

The introduced DNA contained the modified cry3Bb1 gene from B. thuringiensis subsp. kumamotoensis which confers resistance to coleopteran pests.

DNA insert from NK603:

NK603 contains a form of the plant enzyme 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS) that allows the plant to survive the otherwise lethal application of glyphosate.
