Discussion Group 2: Facilitating public access to biosafety information

Article 23 of the Protocol requires Parties to endeavour to ensure that public awareness and education encompass access to information on living modified organisms identified in accordance with the Protocol that may be imported.
This online forum aims to facilitate the exchange of views and information regarding facilitating public access to biosafety information in the context of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety. The outcomes of the discussion are intended to contribute to the implementation of
programme element 3 of the Programme of Work on public awareness, education and participation concerning the safe transfer, handling and use of LMOs, which was adopted by the fifth meeting of the Parties to the Protocol in decision
BS-V/13.
