Posted on behalf of moderators and partners:

Dear participants,

Thank you all very much for your contributions to the discussion on public awareness regarding living modified organisms (LMOs) and for your active participation. The online discussion on public awareness is now closed. Please note that all the postings will remain under each theme.

A complete summary of information and recommendations from moderators of the three themes will be prepared and made available shortly. The information will also be used to update a communication plan template, including messages and sub-messages based on the discussion, to be used on a national level. It will be posted in the Portal on public awareness, education and participation at http://bch.cbd.int/onlineconferences/portal_art23/pa_main.shtml. We would also encourage you to once again participate in the online module on public participation regarding LMOs and access to biosafety information at https://scbd.unssc.org/course/index.php?categoryid=9

We look forward to your continued contribution to the implementation of the programme of work on public awareness, education and participation concerning the safe transfer, handling and use of LMOs and its priority areas/activities, and upcoming preparations for post-2020 plans. For more information about the programme of work and its priority areas, please visit http://bch.cbd.int/protocol/cpb_art23_pow.shtml.

Please note that the moderators have also suggested under the summary of Theme 1 an ongoing online network that will set up shortly. The Secretariat will also shortly begin preparing resources for the 15th anniversary of the entry into force of the Cartagena Protocol based on the online discussion.

We invite you to share information in the Biosafety Clearing-House under the Biosafety Information Resource Center (BIRC) any relevant information at http://bch.cbd.int/database/resources/ and update any relevant information under the database of national websites, including social media sites, at http://bch.cbd.int/database/results?searchid=673102. Please also note that anyone is welcome to share information and review information in the Facebook site on the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety at https://www.facebook.com/UN.Biosafety or the Twitter site of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety at https://twitter.com/bchcpb.
