UPDATE OF THE TECHNICAL SERIES ON SYNTHETIC BIOLOGY
In
decision 14/19, the Conference of the Parties requested the Executive Secretary, subject to the availability of resources to, among other things, update the Technical Series on Synthetic Biology for consideration by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice based on the peer review of scientific information and other relevant information.
With financial support from the Governments of Austria and The Netherlands, the Secretariat initiated the process of updating the Technical Series in collaboration with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) in November 2020. The first draft of the updated Technical Series is now available for a peer review process that will take place from
3 May to 6 July 2021.
Notification 2021-031 has been sent out to invite Parties and other actors to participate in the peer review.
The peer review process is expected to support the process of finalizing the document by pointing to, whenever possible, issues related to content, flow, additional bibliographic references, identification of potential errors, among others. Please also note that the document has not been edited, and therefore, the peer review should focus on substantive matters rather than on editorial issues.
The deadline for peer review comments is
6 July 2021.
All information submitted in response to the peer review will be listed below. The authors will consider the peer review comments in preparing a revised draft of the Technical Series, which will be made available for the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties.
Kindly note that the document is a draft, for comments only,
and not for citation or other uses.
